4 January Update - School Closure Information
Dear Parent / Carer
As you will be aware we are responding to a fast moving situation with regard to the safe opening of schools following the Christmas holiday.
During the last 24 hours we have monitored and given serious consideration to our obligation to provide a safe environment for both staff and children. We have also responded to and acted upon staffing issues, parents concerns, the coronavirus infection rates in the local community, Northumberland County Council and trade union guidance.
As a result of this I am writing to inform you that all children will be taught online from Tuesday 5th January and that school will be closed to all children except to those who are eligible to attend.Parents have already been contacted about this prior to the Christmas break. If you have any questions please contact the office or consult this document (search Critical Workers and Vulnerable Children who can access to school or educational settings).
Online learning will be mandatory for all pupils not in school and should be accessed each day via Google Classroom. If you require paper copies please contact the office and I thank you for your patience whilst this is organised. The school office will be open from 8.00am tomorrow.
I would like to offer my sincere apologies for this last minute change and appreciate the challenges that this will bring for many families. As a teacher my first instinct is for pupils to be in school but overriding this is the responsibility to ensure that over 370 pupils and staff are safe. I will be working tirelessly to ensure that we can resolve all issues and ensure a return to school as soon as possible.
